Hugo is an upcoming 3D adventure drama film based on Brian Selznick's novel The Invention of Hugo Cabret. It is directed by Martin Scorsese and written by John Logan. It is a co-production of Graham King's GK Films and Johnny Depp's Infinitum Nihil. The film stars Asa Butterfield, Chloë Grace Moretz, Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ray Winstone, Emily Mortimer and Jude Law.
This is Scorsese’s first film shot in 3D and it is due to be released in the US on November 23, 2011, with distribution by Paramount Pictures in the US.
Set in 1930s Paris, Hugo Cabret (Butterfield) is an orphan who lives in the walls of a Paris train station. When he meets a curious girl and the owner of toy booth inside the station, his life -- and his most precious secret -- are put in jeopardy.
