Theeb

In the Ottoman province of Hijaz during World War I, a young Bedouin boy experiences a greatly hastened coming of age as he embarks on a perilous desert journey to guide a British officer to his secret destination. Theeb (Arabic: ذيب‎) is a 2014 internationally co-produced Arabic-language drama film written and directed by Naji Abu Nowar. The film premiered in the Horizons section at the 71st Venice International Film Festival on 4 September 2014, where Abu Nowar won the award for Best Director. It was selected as the Jordanian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards.
