Indignation is a 2016 American drama film, directed and written by James Schamus, making his feature directorial debut, and based on the Philip Roth novel Indignation (2008). The film is set mostly in Ohio, in the early 1950s, and stars Logan Lerman, Sarah Gadon, Pico Alexander, Danny Burstein, Linda Emond, and Ben Rosenfield. The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2016. The film is scheduled to be released on July 29, 2016, by Roadside Attractions and Summit Entertainment.
In 1951, Marcus, a working-class Jewish student from New Jersey, attends a small Ohio college, where he struggles with anti-Semitism, sexual repression, and the ongoing Korean War. Based on Philip Roth's 2008 novel "Indignation."
