埼玉県川越商業高等学校（現・川越市立川越高等学校）在学中の1989年、高校2年生の時に原宿の竹下通りでスカウトされ芸能界入り。高校の夏休みの期間、事務所の先輩女優だった中村あずさのもとで見学を重ね、高校卒業の1991年、ドラマ『葡萄が目にしみる』でデビュー。アイドルグラビア雑誌『UP to boy』の第21代ミスアップ・グランプリを受賞。
