Jacob Tremblay (born October 5, 2006) is a Canadian actor, best known for playing Blue Winslow in The Smurfs 2 (2013), Cody in Before I Wake (2015), and, in a highly critically acclaimed performance, Jack in Room (2015). Tremblay was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, on October 5, 2006. He was raised in the nearby city of Langley, British Columbia. His father is a police detective and his mother is a homemaker. Tremblay's older sister, Emma, and younger sister, Erica, are also film actors. In 2013, Tremblay made his film debut playing one of the lead roles as Blue Winslow in the live-action animated film The Smurfs 2, alongside Neil Patrick Harris. The film was directed by Raja Gosnell and released on July 31, 2013 by Columbia Pictures. Tremblay portrayed Jack in the acclaimed drama film Room, co-starring with Brie Larson.The film, directed by Lenny Abrahamson, premiered on September 4, 2015 at the Telluride Film Festival, and was released in cinemas on October 16, 2015, by A24 Films. For his performance, he is nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role, becoming the youngest nominee for that award.
