Biography
Katheryn Winnick (born December 17, 1977) is a Canadian film and television actress.
Etobicoke-born Winnick, who is of Ukrainian descent[dead link] and speaks fluent Ukrainian, has appeared in numerous studio films including Paramount's Failure to Launch (with Matthew McConaughey) and New Line's Amusement.
In 2012, Winnick landed a starring role opposite Kurt Russell in The Black Marks, a heist comedy directed by Jonathan Sobel and also starring Jay Baruchel and Matt Dillon. Winnick plays a Ukranian showgirl who is Kurt Russell’s girlfriend and support system. The film is currently in post-production.
In the Fall 2011, Winnick wrapped the comedy A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III, directed and written by Roman Coppola and starring Bill Murray, Charlie Sheen, Jason Schwartzman and Patricia Arquette. Winnick plays a leading female role as the ex girlfriend of Charlie Sheen’s character.
Also in 2011, Winnick booked a pivotal starring guest role on the CW sophomore spy drama Nikita, where she plays Kelly, the athletic, tough no-nonsense former partner of Maggie Q who just escaped a high-security prison in Turkey. She also appeared on the A&E hit The Glades
In 2010, Winnick was cast alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway in Ed Zwick’s Love and Other Drugs. She also had a role in Robert Luketic’s Killers,, an action-packed comedy studio feature starring Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl.
She has guest starred in multiple critically acclaimed television shows including House M.D. ("One Day, One Room"), Law & Order, CSI and Criminal Minds. Winnick appeared on the Fox drama Bones as Hannah Burley, a war correspondent, who had been posted to Afghanistan, and a love interest for Special Agent Seeley Booth.
Winnick stars opposite Paul Giamatti in the dramatic comedy Cold Souls, which had its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival 2009. She completed filming Oscar winner Rob Legato's directorial debut Choose (with Kevin Pollak and Bruce Dern).
Winnick won silver medals at the Canadian National tae kwon do finals. She currently is a third dan black belt in tae kwon do and a second dan black belt in karate. She is also a licensed bodyguard.
